Sea Trout

The Sea Trout is not to be confused with the normal freshwater trout - even though they are the same species - as its time at sea before returning gives it a very different diet to the average freshwater trout, and it's this that gives it its flavour and salmon-like colour and texture.
Cheaper than salmon yet with a similar flavour and appeal, the Sea Trout is a cost effective substitution for that salmon and is a good source of Omega 3. It has suffered over the years from a decline in population numbers caused by over-fishing and changes in the eco-system, making it important to choose ethically sourced fish when in season.

- Try and buy your sea trout on the day you expect to eat it - the fresher the better
